He Ripped His Own Toenail Off With Tweezers

Some people show up ready to hunt. Eric apparently likes to take things a little further.

Before we even headed out, Eric, one of our guides, had a toenail that was giving him problems. Instead of letting it ruin the day, he grabbed a pair of tweezers and decided to handle it himself.

And by handle it, I mean he ripped the toenail off.

I’m not going to lie, it was hard to watch. There were plenty of “ews” coming from everybody standing around, and I was right there with them.

Eric definitely felt it, but he barely let it slow him down. Brent was right there giving him a hard time and supporting him through the whole thing, and somehow the situation turned into one of those moments everybody was laughing about almost immediately afterward.

Someone made a comment about rough diamonds needing to be cut and polished before they shine, and that ended up being pretty fitting.

Because if you spend enough time hunting in Florida, whether we’re chasing pythons, hogs, gators, or heading out bowfishing, something is eventually going to test you. Heat, mud, bugs, long nights, busted up feet, it’s all part of it.

And apparently for Eric, losing a toenail before the hunt was just part of the warm up.

We cleaned it up, wrapped it, and kept moving.

Toenail gone. Hunt still on.

The cutting was done. Time to go do some polishing.
